Time passes, family remains
Since 1936, a story that comes from afar and has never left
Since 1936It all begins with grandmother Michelina and grandfather Pietro. She, born in America to Italian parents, returns to Positano as a young woman with her uncles. He had already made the same journey: having returned from the United States, he already runs the Hotel Margherita. They meet, marry, and in 1936 decide to open a small hotel in their home: few rooms, plenty of hospitality. They name it Savoia, with the contribution of the royal family that reigned in Italy at the time.
During the Second World War, while tourism in Positano had not yet taken off, the hotel is requisitioned by the British. The British soldiers are captivated by the place. When the war ends, the first guests are precisely their families and those of the Americans who had discovered Positano in those years.
The four children: Vito, Raffaele, Maria and Carolina expand the hotel, buy a new wing, build an additional floor. The property grows, and so does the family.
Reopened after decades, Ristorante d’Aiello is the way we continue to preserve that story: with the same authentic cuisine, the same passionate hospitality and the same view of Positano.
